I-Stock-Unlocked-Data-pic-300x225According to findings in a new Google survey, non-technical users are not prioritizing security as well as they should.  One of the more striking differences between average end users and IT experts are on what they view as the most important security practice.

Non-experts rate use of anti-virus software as a top priority whereas IT experts place emphasis on making sure all software is up to date—e.g., being diligent about installing updates on mobile devices, laptops such as windows updates, iOS updates  and other critical software applications. The study revealed many end users tend to ignore or put off software updates and view it as a nuisance and time consuming, which include things like updating anti-virus.  While IT experts express the importance of anti-malware, it represents only one aspect in a series of steps in an effort to optimize security and privacy.  The average end user and IT experts both place importance on protocols for password hygiene. Although IT experts agree strong passwords and changing passwords periodically are best practice, they also indicated having unique passwords and adopting the use of two factor authentication is better practice. Two factor authentication means adding another step beyond entering a user name and password.  The results begs the question of how many small and medium sized business that do not have internal IT resources or do not rely on IT consulting with regularity represent the security practices reflected in the non-technical user sample.

I worked with Nims when at another company ... you don't have to tell me what a fantastic company Nims is.

Bill has far exceeded my expectations. I am happy to have another Super Technician to rely on for MAS200.

Can I tell you how we feel about Chris? He is the greatest. He goes way beyond the norm. We can't ask for better service and support. Chris has taken the time to teach me additional things to not only help him but us here which cuts the time we need him here to fix something I can do. Not many…

I cannot thank you enough for your help this evening. You have proven that your services are much more valuable than we ever expected - when you guys told me your hourly rate, I thought "no way can we afford that"! lol .... We are small and we do all we can to keep costs down, as I'm sure you…

We are impressed with response times and the general aptitude of your support group. This stands in stark contrast to some of the experiences with other IT resources we’ve patronized in the past.

As someone who works remotely from a home office, connectivity and a reliable, functioning computer are absolutely critical to my ability to be able to perform. Recently my computer "crashed" and as you can imagine created great inconvenience. Your team of Joel, Tessa and Tim responded immediately.…

Since we switched hosts to Network Solutions, we've had nothing but continuous problems with email and sessions timing out preventing us from opening our online store. Joel went out of his way to solve our problem. This means the world to us. Joel listened and accommodated our needs first before…

I have been extremely happy with your service. Michael is truly devoted to his clients and has been great about working with our current vendor to get our issues resolved. The MXLogic transition was seamless. Our users barely noticed the change, which is always a plus.

We’re getting rave reviews on the new e-newsletter. I just want to let you know how grateful we all are for your help on this project—your great direction, patience and support are invaluable.

We would NEVER have gone this far without you!

....and, thank you for all YOU do. We are able to actually breathe easier knowing you're taking care of people. Since our bank told us we need to become PCI compliant, we found lots of holes and “open doors” on our servers, hosting, website etc. Chris closed up them and Tim has helped with the all the other annoying daily problems we have had, and they both do it with a smile and a reassuring, calming tone…

We are very satisfied with the professional demeanor of both Tessa and Michael and their willingness to go above and beyond the scope of their expectations to solve our computer-related issues. The immediate and personal attention we receive from Nims when our Firm has an IT issue is impressive, to…
