When Windows 7 launched, Microsoft was almost apprehensive about trumpeting it too much. Following the Windows Vista debacle, Microsoft was understandably gun-shy about overt bragging that might come back to haunt them in some clever Apple marketing campaign. Fast forward a year, and Windows 7 is a phenomenal success that has eclipsed expectations, so why are you still using Windows XP?

Last week, we saw the re-emergence of another new trojan that is disguising itself as Microsoft’s no-cost antimalware program Microsoft Security Essentials. This imposter is known in the technical world of antimalware combat as “Win32/FakePAV”. FakePAV is a rogue that displays messages that imitate Microsoft Security Essentials threat reports in order to entice the user into downloading and paying for a rogue security scanner. The rogue persistently terminates numerous processes such as Windows Registry Editor, Internet Explorer, Windows Restore and other utilities and applications.

Six months after iPad’s release, Hewlett-Packard Co. presents its Slate 500 tablet, designed for business customers. Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer tested live the 8.9 inch screen device.

The main features of HP’s tablet include the Wi-Fi access, front and rear cameras, 64 gigabytes of storage space and touch-sensitive screen together with a stylus pen.

As TechFlash’s Todd Bishop reminded us, as of today, October 22, PC makers are no longer allowed by Microsoft to preload Windows XP on new PCs.

Survey finds 84% of network operators are planning, deploying next-gen Internet protocol

If you haven't started deploying IPv6 -- or at least begun planning your IPv6 deployment -- you have fallen behind schedule compared to the majority of network operators worldwide, according to the latest survey about global readiness for IPv6, the long-anticipated upgrade to the Internet's main communications protocol.

business owner on desk-424x283If your company is like most, you've probably ridden out the last few years of tough economic times by holding off on many IT purchases. Today, it's quite common for companies to have three-year-old (or older) desktop computers running Microsoft Windows XP. These older computers can be expensive to maintain, requiring frequent patching and software updates. Comparatively, companies that have virtualized their desktops have been able to save up to 55 percent on their operational expenses. For a desktop virtualization deployment to be successful, organizations must balance cost, performance, and the user experience.

30 Years of Rave Reviews

At a time when it may seem like good customer service is at all time low and we hear so many negatives about many companies and their employees, it’s a pleasure to be able to send along our positive comments regarding Nims & Associates … and more specifically about Chris. Chris has worked our…

I worked with Nims when at another company ... you don't have to tell me what a fantastic company Nims is.

We are so pleased with the installation of our Shoretel system. The phones work great and James was able to customize the system to suit our somewhat unusual need of combine live person answering and automation. Both the phones and the software are user friendly and required little training. James…

I have been extremely happy with your service. Michael is truly devoted to his clients and has been great about working with our current vendor to get our issues resolved. The MXLogic transition was seamless. Our users barely noticed the change, which is always a plus.

Can I tell you how we feel about Chris? He is the greatest. He goes way beyond the norm. We can't ask for better service and support. Chris has taken the time to teach me additional things to not only help him but us here which cuts the time we need him here to fix something I can do. Not many…

As someone who works remotely from a home office, connectivity and a reliable, functioning computer are absolutely critical to my ability to be able to perform. Recently my computer "crashed" and as you can imagine created great inconvenience. Your team of Joel, Tessa and Tim responded immediately.…

We are very satisfied with the professional demeanor of both Tessa and Michael and their willingness to go above and beyond the scope of their expectations to solve our computer-related issues. The immediate and personal attention we receive from Nims when our Firm has an IT issue is impressive, to…

We are impressed with response times and the general aptitude of your support group. This stands in stark contrast to some of the experiences with other IT resources we’ve patronized in the past.
Bill has far exceeded my expectations. I am happy to have another Super Technician to rely on for MAS200.
We are very impressed with josh…he seems very knowledgeable and he communicates well…and he just seems like a nice person also…basically our dream consultant….

Again, we’re really impressed with josh and would not hesitate to recommend Nims to anyone.

Thank you for assigning Don to handle our myriad of computer tasks throughout the year. His expertise and friendly can do personality are a cherished resource within our firm. Whenever the screen goes blank or freezes up we always think "Have no fear Don soon will be here" which he is and things…

Our Yardi conversion was challenging. Hiring Nims and in turn working with Marco was the smartest thing we did to assist in this transition. His contribution was priceless. My staff and Board both agree it would have been a nightmare without Nims (Marco).

I was going to say it was the smartest…

Nims and Associates are the best support company I have ever worked with. They get back to my every problem or question in record time. They have been able to help or fix every problem I have come up with. Bill and or Bob are very knowledgeable with all my MASS 200 problems. I would and have…

Since we switched hosts to Network Solutions, we've had nothing but continuous problems with email and sessions timing out preventing us from opening our online store. Joel went out of his way to solve our problem. This means the world to us. Joel listened and accommodated our needs first before…

We are very happy to have your company in place. Joel and Tony have been excellent. The Senior Management Team feels as though a great weight has been lifted from their shoulders and we are appreciative that our systems and software are in the hands of experts.
