A few months ago, Microsoft introduced its new mobile app called Office. This on-the-go app combines Word, Excel, and PowerPoint into a single app with additional capabilities that allow its users to create content and accomplish tasks unique to the mobile environment. The Office app is now out of public preview and available worldwide to anyone on Android and iOS phones.microsoft office app

Microsoft understands that people typically save document creation or edition for their personal computers, and that work on smartphones is inherently limited in ways. Still, Microsoft has taken this as a challenge for Office, creating an app that works with the strengths of mobile device usage, not despite it.

The key benefits Office delivers includes:

  • Simplifying Word, Excel, and Powerpoint into one experience while maintaining the individuality of the apps.
  • Microsoft's Lens technology utilizes the camera's power to convert documents into editable files for Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Adding new functionality for everyday tasks people encounter working on their phones — quick notes, signing PDFs, scanning QR codes, and transferring files between devices.

There have been additional enhancements added to the app since its public preview. Microsoft has added third-party supper storage services (Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, and iCloud) and templates to help create new documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.

There are also more features expected to be coming soon:

  • Word Diction
  • Excel Cards View
  • Convert Outlines to PowerPoint

Get started with the Office app today by downloading it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
